The 3rd band of the print head has the month spelt out vertically: JAN / FEB / MAR / APR / MAY / JUN / JUL / AUG / SEP / OCT / NOV / DEC
The 4th band of the print head has the year (2 digits): 26 / 27 / 28 / 29 /30
So with only 10 bands or digits on the printhead you can still have the following print combinations:

The life of a Meto Expert tool should expect to be measured in decades rather than years. If you buy an ‘economy’ non-Meto pricing gun from the internet, eBay or Amazon and break it or can’t feed the labels then there will be no support or no service centre to have the tool repaired or serviced. This is partly because no one selling pricing guns at £30 a pop can afford to run a service centre, but also because the guns are cheap cr*p not designed for heavy retail use.
